So the next one came with a bag of treats, she smelled like sugar and spoke like the sea, she told me, "Don't trust them, trust me". Then she pulled at my stitches one by one, looked at my insides clicking her tongue and said "This will all have to come undone".

I  have this best friend and I've just realized that she does me more harm than good. I want to let her know that I don't want to be really close with her anymore, you know, just friends and not 'besties'.

But how do I do this without hurting her feelings or ending up sounding like the bad person in the situation?

I'd really appreciate some advise if anyone has any to share :)

  1. This happened to me. Unfortunately I never got the chance to tell her how I felt, she stopped trying and so did I. We just drifted apart. it really was for the best though.
    Not much advice, sorry.

  2. Ahhh i know this problem.... it happened about 8 month to me... there is no easy way. Apart from to slow it down.. so don't be with her all the time, you know go shopping or whatever and eventually just like aboove mentions... you drift apart.
IF it really comes to the worst and shes not taking the hint; tell her how you feel etc. She probably be on the defence so dont take what she says to heart.

  3. I had a VERy similar situation also. Funnily enough I am still close with this person now though. I can't even count the number of times he made me cry. Eventually one day I just snapped, and because I was the first one who ever bothered to tell him he was an arrogant jerk and his ego needed deflating, he actually respected that about me. Ever since then our friendship has been equal, and we don't fight anymore. So very different situation I guess, but that's my experience!

  4. My advice would be to distance yourself from her slowly. Don't tell her you don't want to be as close, cos that could start a war :/ if she does do things to you that hurt or upset you let her know that you're not going to take it anymore. She might realise what's happening and make more of an effort :) good luck x

  6. Hey :)

Somethings you can't avoid hurting a person's feelings...so you just have to tell them straight. Long run you'll be glad that you did :) Have a nice evening :)

NEVER GIVE UP
