Don't you just love the feeling a new year gives you?

Like you're at the beginning of your life once again, all the mistakes from your previous year have been washed away, and you have another chance to make everything just right?
Maybe I'm being a little melodramatic, but that honestly is exactly the way I feel :)

My plans for New Years Eve are looking pretty good. Me and my friends are planning a sleepover. There'll be makeovers, music, dancing, and who could forget good movies and popcorn to munch on?

To keep this post short and sweet, I'll wrap it up with a love song. Because who doesn't love a love song? My friend Khadija got me into this one, it's called "Give into Me" from Gwyneth Paltrow's upcoming movie Country Strong. The movie looks pretty typical, but this song by Leighton Meester and Garret Hedlund is really sweet. Khadija's now crazy about him, but me, I'm not much of a fan of facial hair. However, I did find myself going "Nawwww..." watching the way he looks at Leighton while he's singing!

"I'm gonna start a fire,
You're gonna feel the heat.
I'm gonna burn for you,
You're gonna melt for me."

I wish you all, my lovely followers, an UH- MAZING twenty- eleven! Hope that you acheive ALL your goals and dreams for the year, and that 2011 proves to be everything
that you ever wished it to be!
Lots of love,
ME :)

SUMMER LOVES

HAREM PANTS. Patterned or plain, I think they're fabulous! Not only are they the comfiest things on earth, but they're also fashionable. It's like wearing your pyjamas in public, but it's trendy! God bless the person who brought them in. Seriously.

OVER- SIZED TOPS. You can never have enough of them! They're perfect for when you want to look stylish, but feel at home at the same time. And stay cool in Summer :)

THIS SONG. California by Mindy Gledhill from her album Anchor. I keep playing it over and over and OVER again. Enjoy!

Because We're All Fireworks Waiting to Burst

I'm one of those people who sort of blend into the wall. Who doesn't get noticed that often, and thinks way too much before grasping an oppurtunity; eventually ending up losing it. I always stress before speaking my mind, wondering whether people will agree with me or not. I always regret saying and doing things. And I always hold myself back. Always.

Since I'm starting out at a new school next year, I've now got a clean slate. A white canvas. I'm a new slab of clay, just waiting to be moulded into who I will be there. I've now got a chance to start all over again.

So I've figured that it's the perfect time to change these things.

Because next year, I want things to be different.
I want to stand out, be known and not be afraid to show who I am and who I want to be. I want to be spontaneous, loud, fun and the awesomest person everyone knows.
Hence, my New Year Resolutions for 2011:
I will...
take chances.
speak my mind.
get noticed.
have more fun.
grasp every opportunity.
be confident.
live without regrets.
express myself.
shine.
be everything I ever wanted to be.

Let's all sip tea in china cups and converse in British accents.

I have become obsessed with period dramas. Really. I swear, the Brits of the 18th and 19th centuries had the life. I mean, okay, they didn't have mobile phones, internet or cars, but seriously. Who needs those when you can get lovely handwritten letters on crisp parchment, wear beautiful gowns and dance at balls for entertainment, and ride on horse- driven carriages?

My friend lesmagnifiques recently introduced me to North and South, a BBC drama set in the Vicorian era. Despite being a little slow and more serious than Jane Austen, I really liked it. The acting was brilliant and the chemistry between Daniela Denby-Ashe and Richard Armitage (Never thought I'd say this about anyone, but Mr. Thornton may actualluy give Mr. Darcy a run for his money!) was fantastic. Definitiely worth checking out if you haven't heard of it!

Just thought I'd finish off by reblogging this quote by Keira Knightley, on her character Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice, from http://pemberley-state-of-mind.tumblr.com/.

“You can imagine her going into a room and being slightly nervous about it, thinking: ‘I feel really stupid right now’. I think you see yourselves in all (Austen’s) characters, all her strong women. She is the sort of person (who) comes up with all the put downs that I always think: ‘I should have said that!’ She is the person who can come up with it really quickly. So I think she is still the person I want to be and I will never get there. I am just not clever enough.”

Tell me, don't we all feel the exact same way?

Oh and a big "Happy birthday!" to Miss Jane Austen for the 16th.
Thank you for giving us the best love stories of all time. And Mr.Darcy. May your soul rest in peace.

Must go make my New Year Resolutions for 2011. Ta Ta ;)

Amateur Cooking

SUMMER.
The very word brings thoughts of bright sunny days, ice- cream, beach umbrellas and sunscreen to our minds. But what do we get instead? Rain, clouds, and a hot/ humid climate to boot.

Any who, school's out for the year and yesterday I went to my friend lesmagnifiques' place. We watched Mansfield Park and attempted to make macaroons. This is what they were supposed to look like:

And this is what we got instead:

But as they say, "beauty is on the inside". They may not have looked that great, but they did still taste like little bits of heaven. Nice and chewy, and the strawberry butter cream was divine if I dare say so myself!

Till next time :D

Once Upon A December

Looking back at my blog posts from last year, I remember hoping that 2010 would bring changes to my life.
And it has.
I've made a lot of new friends, who I'll be leaving. And I've lost a best friend, who I won't be leaving. I'm finally saying goodbye to my school, the place that has been my second- home for the past ten years. I'm entering another instead, an alien environment; swarming with new faces and new challenges.
Now, I've begun to think whether I really want all these changes. I'm so accustomed to living in my own little, cosy world where I'm comfortable with everyone and everything. I feel like the bubble- wrap around me has started to pop. Leaving me exposed to the world that lies behind the walls of my own.

Think it's time to check off my resolutions for 2010?
1. I will be more self- confident.
Check. Much better than last year, I must congratulate myself.

2. I will be more considerate of those around me and not be self- centered.
Check. Somewhat. Hey, I'm still a teen ok! Being self- centred is a natural instinct. But check, check.

3. I will get to know more people and not just keep to myself.
Accomplished. CHECK.

4. I will be a nicer and better person than I've been last year.
Ok, honestly, I think I have to let others make the decision about this one. But I'm a nice person, really. It's just that this year... never mind.
5. I will be optimistic.
This varied from time to time. But I can say that I'm improving!

6. I will be less self- conscience.
Less, but unfortunately not completely (yet). Check!

7. I will believe in myself and do my best to achieve my goals.
CHECK!

My last day at my current school is on Monday. I'm going to get my school shirt signed and take my camera along to snap up some material memories. But of course, the greatest ones will be in my head :)

  ♥ ME.

OOHH and P.S, Deathly Hallows Part 1 was AMAZING, EPIC, BRILLIANT, INCREDIBLE, SPECTACULAR, AWESOME, FABULOUS, FANTASTIC, and did I mention AMAZING?!
I loved the fact that they stayed true to the book (not mentioning the Harry/ Hermione dance which I found to be quite unnecessary and exhibiting of the wrong impression). Everything was exactly as how I'd imagined it, especially the beginning, with The Dark Lord Ascending and The Seven Potters. I also loved the way they portrayed Ron and Hermione together. Can't wait till Part 2, although I know I'll be coming out of the theatre crying!

NEVER GIVE UP

The road that is built in hope is more pleasant to the traveler than the road built in despair, even though they both lead to the same destination.

-Winston Churchill

Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined. As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler.
